In the Islamic tradition Muslims believe that Quran is the literal word of God, revealed to the last Prophet Mohammad (peace be upon him) through Angel Gabriel, 1400 years ago. Its revelation was completed in 23 years. God says in the Quran:
The Heights (7:203)
“…Say (O Mohammad), “I only follow what is revealed to me from my Lord….”
Quran was revealed in the Arabic language and has been preserved completely as it was revealed. God says in the Quran:
The Rock(15:9)
“Indeed, it is We who sent down the Qur’an and indeed, We will be its guardian.”
