ASOR invites members to submit paper abstracts and workshop presentation proposals for the 2021 Annual Meeting.

ASOR’s 2021 Annual Meeting will have both in-person and virtual components. The in-person component will take place November 17-20 at the Hilton Chicago in downtown Chicago. The virtual component will take place online December 9-12. Use the links below to learn about the sessions and workshops being offered for each component before you submit an abstract.

Call for papers – “Towards a Global History of Soil. Sciences, Practices, Materialities, and Mobilities, 1100–1700”, Julay 22-23, 2021, Deadline : April 30, 2021.

This conference will explore the scientific, practical, and material culture of soil in the premodern world. Developed in conjunction with MPIWG’s research group Agriculture and the Making of Sciences, 1100-1700, it invites research on soil as mobile matter, in the sense of being transported across space, manipulated, and systematized in various bodies of knowledge.

As one of the most basic materials, people at all social levels and from both lay and elite backgrounds engaged with soil in various ways. Because soil was fundamental for agriculture, historians have typically focused on this aspect of its use. However, in the premodern era, soil’s utility extended far beyond this into domains as disparate as architecture and medicine, divination and alchemy. This reassessment of soil, raises many questions:

Call for Submission – CAA 2022 Annual Conference, 16-19 feb. 2022, deadline : 30 april 2021

GENERAL INFORMATION 

CHICAGO, IL, FEBRUARY 16–19, 2022 (FORMAT TO BE DETERMINED)  

The CAA Annual Conference is the largest professional convening of art historians, artists, designers, curators, and others in the visual arts. Each year we offer sessions submitted by our members, committees, and affiliated societies offering a wide range of program content.  

The Annual Conference Committee & Council of Readers review over 1,000 submissions each year. They take into account subject areas and themes that arise from accepted proposals to present as broad and diverse a program as possible.  

The Call for Proposals gives CAA members the opportunity to submit for the 2022 CAA Annual Conference. Proposals must be submitted from March 1 through April 30, 2021.

La page ici présentée est un folio d’une copie d’un manuscrit du Shâhnâmeh. Il s’agit du Supplément Persan 490 entré dans les collections de la Bibliothèque Nationale au cours des premières années du XIXe siècle. Il date probablement du début du XVIIe siècle, et a été réalisé dans un atelier safavide, au cours du règne de Shah Abbas (1587-1629).

Appel à projets – PHC MAGHREB 2022, date limite 22 mars 2021

PHC Maghreb

Les trois Partenariats Hubert Curien (PHC) du Maghreb (PHC franco-algérien « Tassili », PHC franco-tunisien « Utique » et PHC franco-marocain « Toubkal ») encouragent à travers le PHC Maghreb les coopérations multilatérales en finançant conjointement des projets régionaux impliquant les 3 pays du Maghreb et la France. Ces projets sont financés pour une durée de 3 ans.

Le PHC Maghreb est mis en œuvre en Algérie par le Ministère de l’Enseignement Supérieur et de la Recherche Scientifique (MESRS), au Maroc par leMinistère de l’Éducation Nationale, de la Formation Professionnelle, de l’Enseignement Supérieur et de la Recherche Scientifique, en partenariat avec le Centre National pour la Recherche Scientifique et Technique (CNRST), en Tunisie par le Ministère de l’Enseignement Supérieur et de la Recherche Scientifique (MESRS) et en France par les Ministères de l’Europe et des Affaires Etrangères (MEAE) et de l’Enseignement Supérieur, de la Recherche et de l’Innovation (MESRI).

Les appels à candidatures de ce programme sont lancés sur un rythme annuel.

Call for submissions – Library of Arabic and Islamic Heritage : Classical Islamic Texts Series

Gorgias Press and The King Faisal Center for Research and Islamic Studies (KFCRIS) are delighted to be collaborating on an important new academic book project, the: Library of Arabic and Islamic Heritage مكتبة التراث العربي والاسلامي. The project will make available to academics, independent scholars and research institutes, and traditional centers of learning a diverse range of classical Arabic texts that continue to play a central role in the rich and vast development of Islamic thought and culture.

The first series of publications to emerge from the Library of Arabic and Islamic Heritage will be ten Arabic-English translations housed in the new Classical Islamic Texts Series (CITS). The series will make available the single-volume translations of renowned classical Arabic works, showcasing texts that are of central importance to the fields of Qurʾānic studies, Islamic law, Ḥadīth, Theology, History, and Philosophy. Proposed texts can be important short treaties, a compilation of several thematically-related treaties or a key section from a larger compendium. Each proposal should be for a text that is or will be used as an important reference work.

La rédaction de Sources invite les chercheur·e·s, les docteur·e·s et les doctorant·e·s à soumettre des articles, projets d’articles et data papers correspondant à la ligne éditoriale de la revue pour publication dans ses numéros varia. Un numéro varia est publié par an. Ces propositions peuventêtresoumises à tout moment de l’année.

Tous les articles sont sujets à une double évaluation par les pairs avant publication, dont au moins une évaluation en double aveugle.
